How this site is made
EDHD — critical appraisal for trauma, emergency and critical care. Back to the Suture is the weekly research update: the papers that matter, and a podcast that argues about one of them.
Back to the Suture
Every morning an automated agent sweeps PubMed for new trauma surgery, emergency medicine and critical care literature entered in the last few days. It keeps only high-signal work — guidelines and consensus statements, randomised trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and large multicentre cohort or registry studies — and appends each keeper to that week’s digest with a plain-language bottom line. Case reports, small single-centre retrospectives and animal-only work are dropped.
This site is regenerated from those files automatically. To date: 378 papers across 14 weekly digests.
Ranking
The weekly top ten is not editorial. Papers are scored on study design (guidelines, randomised trials and meta-analyses rank highest), journal, stated sample size, and the digest category the collector assigned. Everything not in the top ten is still on the page, grouped by category.
Caveats
Summaries are written from published abstracts and metadata only — no full texts are read, and no findings are inferred beyond what the abstract states. Nothing here is clinical advice or a substitute for reading the paper. Follow the PMID link and judge for yourself; that is rather the point of the exercise.
